About Maurice Andres french horn playing:
In a discussion I had with Maurice Andre at a master class in 2002, Maurice Andre confirmed that he did indeed play French horn on Brandenburg 1 for the Jean Francois Paillard set of 6 Brandenburgs. He played trumpet (undoubtedly a Selmer piccolo) on the Brandenburg 2 in the same set.
