You know how I feel about you and your teaching. You have helped me enormously. I personally have benefitted from your approach and have become somewhat intimate with your methodology (my wife doesn't want me any more intimate <G>). I have made this post for the sake of clarity for others who are not so fortunate to have corresponded with you on this stuff.
To be fair, the sounds that come out when doing the excersise that you use are double pedals, but they are not produced the same way a "traditional" pedal tone (if there is such a thing). The embouchure that you use is similar to that of an einsetzen French Horn embouchure >(closest thing I can think of to describe it). It is VERY effective in loosening, limbering and preparing the lip tissue for regular buzzing, which is what you're using it for. The mainstream or traditional pedal attempts to use a single embouchure set and carry it thru all the registers. If you recall, just a year ago you got an email from a very befuddled would-be trumpet player on this very issue.
So, as you know, I have put up a web page so others can get a "visual" of what you're doing and can understand how it differs from the traditional approach. I'll post it now for the world to see.
